This petition aims to achieve further review to UK energy pricing with the intention of proposing a cap on domestic prices and achieving further price reductions. You might expect that prolonged reductions to UK wholesale energy costs would be passed on to consumers. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case and so far only few reductions have been announced which are substantially lower than the savings made by the energy companies. Similar to the financial sector, energy suppliers should also have to supply more information to customers about switching supplier to obtain the best prices.

At a time when a huge number of people are suffering fuel poverty it’s not good enough that the current government are doing little to prevent energy companies from taking advantage and doing exactly what they want. Gas and electricity are essential and people certainly shouldn't have to worry about whether they can afford to heat their home.
