We, the undersigned have affixed our names here to call upon the Israeli government, the Israeli Attorney General, The Director of the Israeli Prison Service, and the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, to close down the solitary confinement ward at Neve Tirtza and to immediately open an investigation into the charges and allegations alleged by the members of the Israeli Bar Association, The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel and other international Human Rights organizations. The report and complaints, which are all based upon eye witness testimony, allege that �detention conditions of women prisoners in the solitary confinement ward of Neve Tirtza are cruel, inhuman, degrading and illegal.� The Bar Association report includes testimonies from lawyers and journalists who have visited the prison and witnessed first hand the miserable conditions. www.adalah.org/eng/pressreleases/pr.phpfile=09_06_29 We are demanding that the solitary confinement ward of Neve Tirtza be closed immediately and that an independent investigation into allegations of torture, psychological and physical abuse and all other illegal acts suffered by prisoners be initiated immediately and that those found to be involved in such acts in any way, including creating an environment where such illegal acts can take place without detection, be held accountable.
