Where I live, in the Crescent rd area, we already had traffic calming measures like speed humps and there never was a noticible so called "rat run" problem. There use to be 4 difererent routes that took you ont the main roads, depending on where you wanted to go. I.e towards Headington or the M40 to london or via Holoway rd, or to get to the Templar Cowley shops via Temple rd (where the Temple cowley swimming pool use to be) or If you were heading towards town or Cowley road you would use Marsh rd.
Since the ludicrous LTN introdction in the Crescent rd area, 4 routes onto main roads has been reduced to just one .............Marsh Rd.
Which ulitmately means a longer route, more petrol usage more idling in queues of traffic, longer journey times.
So tell me Dr Anna G (I won't give here full name here, but you can google it) the person who advised not only the Oxford but London and other counsils about thehealth and safety benefits of LTNs, tell me.Dr Anna G, how is adding more carbon and pollution healthier for the environment........not to mention added personal stress to people having to leave the house much earlier so that they are not late for work or for a meeting or to catch a bus or flight?
Dr Anna G happens to be an ardent advocate for cyclists, which is all well and good, I'm all for making cyclists safer, with cycle routes etc, but promoting cycling should NOT be at the expense of Tax paying reponsible motorist how merely want to leave their house and get to their destination by the most effcient route. In my opinion the council have taken a sledge hammer to crack a nut.........and whether there really was "rat run" problem in the first place on the Crescent rd area seems highly questionable.

Pain in the backside no worning they are there untill your right on top of them,also not any good for ambulance to get through that extra time can be the difference between life and death.

They need to be removed it’s ok for people who live in these streets but traffic is now in other areas Holloway The Slade Headington and the Ring Riad is so busy at times that it stops older and Disabled people to get out and what about the people who have breathing problems the air must be terrible

The traffic is unbelievable bad on Holloway and oxford road it must be so much worse for the environment sat with the car running so long. I walk on short journeys but can’t when shopping or going to work.

5 minute journey turned into 45 min with these stupid LTN things. Literally so unnecessary. spend time and money on something that will actually benefit everyone. whoever came up with this idea i hope they get sacked. tell them to suck their mum pussio.

These diversions are resulting in more traffic, and traffic pollution in the area. although the amount of cars in the area are decreasing, they are increasing in the surrounding area.
Stop this traffic barriers it is unjust
