I am a PTSI survivor and do not consider the injury to be a disorder. It's not a disorder because it's something that happened to me, I wasn't born with it.

Post-traumatic Stress (PTS) has deeply affected my life as an adult survivor of extreme Developmental Trauma, compounded by workplace abuse. Most distressingly, the "standard treatment for PTSD" nearly killed me. A treatment for a *disorder* is inappropriate for trauma survivors. This is further harm. Abuse, actually. It has taken me years to recover, and most of what's helped isn't covered by insurance so it comes out of my pocket.
The American Psychiatric Association needs to update its perspective and align it with actual *science* rather than outmoded theory and opinion.
Stop the Stigma, stop the harm, APA.

I witnessed my husband's suicide and now I am being treated by the VA for complicated PTSD. I also have dealt with the stigma and ignorance of people who don't understand.

I have been calling it PTS for years as I can’t stand using the term disorder. It makes much more sense as an injury and defined at the injury the event does to the central and peripheral nervous system and keeps patients in fight or flight and stuck in a hyper aroused condition as a result of the injury. It’s PTSI!

PTSI, I’d offer, has a larger and longer impact than any physical injury. Disorder has negative connotations and needs to be redefined.

I understand that trauma causes an injury to the nervous system and it can be healed with the Dual Symapthetic Reset. I just had this treatment myself and my whole life is changed for the better. I feel calm and like myself. Trauma reactions are not a disorder or personal flaw, please change the name. It will help us fight the stigma.

Ive ptsi my entire life.I was diagnosed with ptsd at 23. I then went to mental health for it in 7 different states until I was 48. Everywhere I went I said my diagnosis and NOT ONCE did any mental health therapist or Psych EVER discuss it with me or do anything to help it which is why I 100% believe its bc they wont make money if youre healed. I did the research for myself I found myself the proper treatment which was sgb and immediately the symptoms went away. After decades. To say Im hurt and angered by being used by the system like that is an understatement and Ive decided to channel that properly by fighting to get ptsd recognized as an injury so no one else has their mental health played with so someone can make money again. This is serious issue and the change in the way of thinking about it starts with what we call it. Illinois is full of prisoners with ptsd that may have not commited the crimes ( or attacked me) if this had been recognized as what it is and treated correctly. The is the first step to saving so many lives. ( thank you for saving my life Stella!)

I have seen things others should never see.
Please consider an injury makes sense.
