DIANA TAYLOR: END THE LOCKOUT OR RESIGN

Diana Taylor, Trustee of Dartmouth College, is currently engaged in an assault on the livelihoods of working Americans. As a member of the Board of Directors of Sotheby's, she has been instrumental in maintaining a lengthy and destructive lockout of unionized workers.

7 months ago, 42 art handlers from Sotheby's art auction house were locked out of work when they refused to submit to extreme union busting measures. They have been struggling to go back to work, organizing protests everywhere to pressure the Sotheby's board to end this lockout.

The contract changes that Sotheby's proposed were outrageous. The auction house demanded the right to eliminate union positions and strip workers of their retirement benefits. When the workers refused to let the union be destroyed, they were locked out.

The workers confronted Diana Taylor at a board meeting in October, where she issued a stunning threat. She declared that if Sotheby's met any of the workers' demands, she would resign from the board.

These actions do not represent the values of Dartmouth College or its students. Diana Taylor's actions are deeply irresponsible, and she must be held to account for them. 

We demand that Diana Taylor end this lockout, or resign from the Dartmouth Board of Trustees.
