Having comprehensive FLS coverage acros the country will reduce suffering from hip fractures, save lives, and save NHS resources including freeing up hospital beds. Therefore it's a win-win situation.

I am a registered osteopath on the south coast, and treat many in the over-50 age group. Access to FLS and more public education on osteoporosis and treatment/care is of the utmost importance. I was horrified to see that the south East of England scores so badly when it comes to KPIs in this regard… and indeed this is so in many other areas of the UK. The human pain and disability and financial cost to the NHS of this would reduce substantially if this campaign succeeds!

DEXA SCAN inbetween fracture and break.
Excellent treatment, including operation, from everyone at the Small Injuries Clinic and the Day Surgery Unit at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Had to wait 2 weeks between injury and surgery. Day Surgery Unit Waiting Room FULL TO CAPACITY WITH MAINLY WOMEN, SOME THERE FOR A SECOND OR THIRD SURGERY DUE TO BROKEN BONES.

Universal FLS is proven to be effective in reducing fractures in Scotland and we need to invest in England and Wales to save health and social care resources spent on patients with fragility fractures

Bone health is vital to reducing the cost of fragility fractures on both the NHS and social Care. Fracture Liaison Services across all postcode areas are a key to saving health care costs in the longer term.

More/ new Screening for other conditions, especially those linked to increased known risk factors, eg osteoporosis and family history/ early menopause are also needed to reduce ‘The first fracture’ incidence.

I strongly support this campaign. I have patients with osteoporosis who are not diagnosed early, some of whom go on to have spinal fractures. If detected and treated earlier, these may have been avoided.
