My husband was a Purple Heart rec who fought in the Battle of the Bulge And also jumped in Normandy on D Day. He did this to protect our country not for you to do give it away to our enemies.

I am the wife of a retired Army soldier living in Columbus GA and I am totally against the sequestration that the military is proposing. This action is going to cause thousands of people both military and civilian to lose their jobs and livelihood....what is wrong with this picture? Please allow us to maintain and represent this great nation called the United States where dreams come true and opportunity is rewarding!!!!

I have trouble understanding the government's reasoning in attempting this sequestration for Ft. Benning, GA/AL.
An entirely new hospital has just been completed with the most up-to-date technology, along with a new Veteran's Service Center to reduce the veteran's need to travel to Tuskegee/Atlanta for medical and rehabilitative services.
If this reduction in our military force comes to fruition, well, shame on you Congress. That will be one of the greatest wastes of military spending. This community already spent millions of dollars during the failed B.R.A.C. Houses were built to accommodate the influx of troops only for B.R.A.C. to be canceled the last minute with no one to move into these homes. (Wasteful spending created by Congress). So many of these newly built homes sat empty, new homes! Local building contractors took a major loss!
Additionally, this community and the Ft. Benning community is deeply intertwined with educational programs, community programs for special needs children and adults, for wounded soldiers, homeless soldiers and their families, numerous business relationships, special programs to assist employment of the military through transition programs, and employment of military spouses. The majority of the above are financed by private individuals and private donations. Others are through a co-op with major corporations and businesses within our community. Their participation is vital to the financial stability within the Chattahoochee Valley and Phenix City, AL
We as a community and local and state government are proud of our military. They not only defend our nation, where others may not go, but they and their families are an integral part of our city and area..
On one hand you want to cut spending and cut troops. On the other hand you are carelessly throwing away billions of dollars and jobs. You then, Congress, are creating a burden on the entire nation as a whole by creating an increase in unemployment ra
