Please do not shut down Ft Benning, let's grow it! The economical impact to Columbus Georgia would be very difficult to overcome. We need the base, we need the troops and we need the income and jobs Ft Benning provides.

Reducing any jobs at Ft. Benning will adversely affect Veterans, military retirees, DA civilians, civilian contractors, and the surrounding communities. The nickle and diming of budget adjustments should be done elsewhere and NOT where BRAC increases have already been made (2008-2009: from Ft. Knox TO Ft. Benning)! Let common sense prevail! We're all supposed to be against waste, fraud, and abuse... right? RIGHT?!?

Why is it that no one in congress gets the fact. When you close a military base or in this case a post that the community(s) that surround and support that installation cannot survive so they dry up and die! How does that save anyone money?

I was born at Fort Benning in 1964. My dad is retired now, my Godson also went to basic training at Fort Benning. I live here in the river region and we need to keep Fort Benning strong because without them we would be no were on the map we would just be another small mill town gone down. So keep Fort Benning strong and alive.

Our safety depends on a strong, intelligent group of men and women working together to defend and protect this nation. Reducing our numbers is not a smart move. Stop sequestration. God bless our armed forces!

I retired as a Master Sergeant over 49 years ago. When (NOT IF) we go to war again with this size of an Army, (necessitating a large draft), we will be sending many of our young men and women to certain death with little or no training!
