NOISE POLLUTION IS A HEALTH HAZARD

Helicopter noise at 100 feet is 50% louder than a jackhammer. Noise pollution from large medical transport helicopters flying over residential areas of Marquette can cause problems including decreased school performance, fetal development problems, increased stress, weakening of the immune system, cardiovascular effects and sleep disturbance.

We,as concerned citizens askthe Marquette City Commission members to act now to require Duke Life Point medical transport helicopters to locate an alternate route to the hospital that will fly over non-residential areas and is sufficiently removed from our neighborhoods to prevent helicopter noise pollution. In addition we request that the commission enact a noise ordinance to this regard and that the ordinance applies to any other helicopters flying over the city of Marquette.
