While we understand this is the age of technology, every person is not meant to or able to achieve in online schooling. Online learning takes a level of maturity, responsibility, and self-discipline that many students have not developed in middle school. When did 6th - 8th grade students suddenly become mature? They have gone from having recess to 70% online instruction. For many it's 100% online. The lack of communication and feedback regarding this instruction is insane. No one knows what in the world is going on and the information being presented is partially incorrect and only a fraction of what is covered on exams.Work at their own pace? Not really...Children are no longer playing outside because they spend every waking moment Monday-Sunday in front of the computer trying to "catch-up" and becoming discouraged with every passing second (and many are still behind). Students who were formerly A-B students are now struggling to pass. Let's not even mention if a child has any disability or attention problems. We are tired of people just sitting by watching and not doing or saying anything. We must be the voice for our children and every other child adversely affected by Edgenuity's style of instruction. Just because they sell you a dream, it doesn't make it real. We need to fix this now.
The stories shared in the comments are heartbreaking. Everyone deserves better than this system.

Edgenuity does not teach my child anything. It is just a class that we have to struggle through in order for her to graduate. It is stressful and has way to many quizzes. Plus in order to move past a quiz if you attempt it 3 times which is ridiculous you have to wait for the teacher to unlock your session in order to move forward. Sometimes it takes days and you get really behind ! It is just not a good way of learning for children because they do not learn from it they just try to get through it.

I'm currently doing Edgenuity and its Spanish program is horrendous. Lack of consistency and visualization, and there's no way to contact the company itself for criticisms. Do not let your child do this program.

My son was an honor/merit roll student until he was offered Edgenuity classes. He has ADHD and takes medication for this. He has the same complaints of falling behind and being unable to catch up. We have made multiple complaints to our school system and we have had multiple meetings but no one can seem to give you a straight answer as to what can be done or what is being done all the while my son's GPA falls. This is unacceptable.

I feel that not all kids learn the same. My kids have struggled a great deal this year with eginuity they went from making A's and B's to struggling tremendously. I think the board members teachers and principals should take a step back and realize the damage this is doing to our kids. It has made my son dislike school this year and its hard to see him struggle so much.

I was in tears when a 12th grader who was a all A- B student told me she wanted to quit school because of edgenuity. I told her please do not consider that, she then said I am definitely not going to college I hate school because of this new learning system.

Edgenuity is supposed to be blended learning with a mixture of teacher direct instruction. My son has gone through the first semester with very little direct instruction from his teachers. Most of the class time is spent trying to catch kids up with the online portion. Young kids struggle to retain information that is given to them without reinforcement from teachers in the classroom. I spend several hours during the evening trying to help my son catch up . I'm strongly considering removing him from Henry County schools.
