I am a student at the University of Minnesota, and I have chosen to do my material transits final paper on this drug. It is crazy that this drug was approved. My thesis for the paper claims that instead of this drug's approval pushing female equality forward, it only further hurts their cause.

Safety, effectiveness and actual medical need should be the main concerns for determining the approval of any drug by the FDA. There should be fully comprehensive, independent study done on the safety of this drug before it can even be considered for approval. Just because this person's sexual desire does not match yours, it doesn't automatically mean it needs to be "fixed"!

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with 13 years experience practicing in the Behavoiral Health field. I am well aware of how challenging a loss of libido can be, espeically when it is a result of treatment of another serious condition (e.g. depression); however, I am also aware of how common misuse of medication is, whether intentional or accidental. I am also aware of how complex issues of sexual attraction, desire and arousal are; determining whether the cause of these problems in an individual is challenging in the best of circumstances. A pharmaceutical intervention often tends to encourage rapid diagnosis with an overdependence on fixing it with a pill. We have seen this with ED medications for men. The consequences there have been relatively minor given the overall safety of those drugs; however, the risk is much higher with a medication with more severe interactions, side effects and a narrower therapeutic window. I fully support advancing options for treating issues of sexual dysfuction in women and men, but they must be safe, and the science to determine that safety must be primary in the approval process.

don't let pharmaceutical companies make up drugs in order to let doctors in white jackets tell women they have a pill for their "sexual disfunction" - money money and greed will kill us all. "Honey just take your pill" -- and she's like...why not take me to the movies? You have to bring back a failed rug to push more junk down our throats? HORRIBLE.
