The residents of Barlow and Exchange are petitioning for ZRS Management to immediately stop accepting short term rentals.
We want a clean, safe place to live. The presence of short term rentals where live diminishes the safety and cleanliness of our homes.
The residents of Barlow and Exchange pay a premium to live in a building with gates and passkeys, with cleaning and maintenance staff. For the most part, residents tend to take care of the place they live. We tend to get to know our neighbors and, through interactions over time, feel safer.
Short term renters from AirBNB and VRBO do not take care of the common areas of our buildings. They leave trash in hallways and sidewalks. They damage property that takes time to fix and looks bad until maintenance can get to it. We have no idea who these people are and there's no way to feel safe when there's a constant flow of strangers moving in and out of our buildings.
Short term renters make more noise, misuse gym equipment, use the pool after hours, and leave the meeting spaces on the first floor in shambles.
Residents have submitted dozens of private requests to have AirBNB and VRBO ended at Barlow and Exchange, but management continues to move the promised end date. It was the summer. Then it was August. Then it was November. Now it's some time in 2023.
We find this unacceptable and want it to end.

Someone staying with Airbnb tried to break into our apartment, police were called and had to remove him from the building. With video proof we went to the front office and nothing was done. No action was taken and all we were left with was a comment from a staff member that her husband would have “kicked his ass”. This man was screaming that he was going to kill us and trying to kick our door in at 3 in the morning. ZRS never got in-touch with us as well. Also the office has said that the airbnb contracts were going to end for 4 months now with no action which means that the front office is lying to residents on a daily basis just to get them to shut up about a real issue. This community is not safe due to ZRS.

This creates an unsafe environment for the rest of us. Honestly, it’s an inconvenience sharing the common areas with people who aren’t invested in the cleanliness and peace of our space.
