Recently our union went to arbitration about holidays and how they were paid out. Since September 30th of 2007 we were paid for these holidays if they were not worked. Now we are receiving comp days. Chances are it will be impossible to give close to 200 BLS providers off for every comp day gathered. So now with this we have to wait 60 days to be paid for them. I'm not sure who thought this was a good
idea but from talking to a lot of the employes they are not happy with this new ruling. I know a lot of people depend on those larger checks especially in November and December where there are quite a few holidays. If you are against this new ruling please sign this petition. With any hope we can have this over turned. But if it can't be overturned let this petition show the disapproval for when the time comes for contract negotiations since our contract is up next year. In addition I would agree to be given the option to take the comp day or take the money in my paycheck.

I find it disgusting that this arbitration was brought up by said representation for the good of the manpower, but the manpower was not involved in the discussion of moving forward with it. Some are going to comment "well, you should go to union meetings". My reply to that is you are our appointed voice to do what is in our best interest. The push to the arbitration has taken money off of the table for ALL of us and in agreement with Jen, I have lost holiday money I have become accustom to for gifts for my children. We need to fight for repeal!
The option is all we ask. It will be a loss of $900 in a 2 month span by year' send for myself

Giving us the choice will allow those who want time off to have it while at the same time helping administration to fill and keep a full schedule. This is a win - win situation!
