Empowering Employees by Reassessing Policy Changes
To The Partners and Policy Decision Makers of Green Worldwide Shipping,
We, the undersigned employees of Green Worldwide Shipping, write this petition to express our collective concern and dissatisfaction regarding the recent Work From Home policy change implemented within our workplace. We believe that this policy change has far-reaching implications that directly affect our well-being, job satisfaction, and overall work environment.
While we understand that changes are sometimes necessary for the growth and development of an organization, it is crucial to ensure that these changes are made with the utmost consideration for the people who drive the company forward – the employees. Unfortunately, the recent policy change has raised several valid concerns among us.
1. **Lack of Transparency:** The lack of transparent communication regarding the rationale behind the policy change has left us feeling uninformed and disconnected from the decision-making process. There were no previous implications that our current policy was only temporary. We believe that as dedicated members of this organization, we deserve a clear understanding of why this change was deemed necessary. Telling us it's for our mental health and need for collaboration is not reason enough.
2. **Impact on Work-Life Balance:** The new policy has resulted in increased travel time to the office, increase spending on gas, decreased time with family, and reduced flexibility, impacting our ability to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This has a detrimental effect on our overall well-being, job satisfaction, and ultimately, our productivity.
3. **Inequitable Treatment:** The policy change appears to disproportionately affect certain departments or positions, creating a sense of inequality among employees. Fairness and consistency in policy application are paramount to maintaining a positive and harmonious work environment.
4. **Impact on Working Towards Sustainability:** The policy change is expected to significantly contribute to our carbon footprint due to the increased travel required for commuting to and from the office. On average, a single employee's total commute of 25 miles results in the emission of approximately 3000-3800kg of CO2 annually. When this figure is extrapolated across the entirety of our company's workforce, the collective impact on our planet becomes glaringly evident. The heightened carbon emissions resulting from increased commuting not only challenge our commitment to sustainability but also position us as a less environmentally conscious company.
5. **Employee Feedback Ignored:** Our attempts to provide feedback and express our concerns prior to the policy implementation were met with limited consideration. We believe that our collective expertise and insights should have been valued in shaping any changes that affect our daily work lives.
We, the undersigned, kindly request that you reconsider the recent policy change and take our concerns into serious consideration. Our aim is not to oppose change for the sake of it but to advocate for a workplace that values its employees' well-being and fosters an environment of open communication and mutual respect.
We propose keeping the work from home days as is with 2 per week and as instructed by our department head. If needed, stricter guidelines to be able to keep the 2 work days from home can be put into policy.
We believe that by addressing these concerns and working together, we can find a solution that benefits all parties involved – the company, its employees, and its continued growth.
Thank you for considering our petition and for your dedication to maintaining a positive and thriving work environment.
