New Zealand citizens that have difficulty and suffer pain getting from a vehicle to their intended destination PAY for a Mobility Parking Permit that allows them to exclusively park near their destination. We often distressingly find able bodied people have illegally parked there. If reported to the police they say it is a private matter and do nothing even though fines are applicable. The offenders often are full of excuses and defensive or belligerent and sometimes downright threatening to people that are already frail. We need this "be kind" government to promote ACTIVE ENFORCEMENT of punitive fines for belligerent mobility parking offenders. One day you may be frail and have mobility issues due to accident, illness or just age. Don't regret not acting on this important issue now. Please sign and share this. Thank you.

Personally I don’t use these parks but my father does and when I’m driving him it’s extremely frustrating when people that are parked in these spaces shouldn’t be there. My dad needs to to get out of his car and get his walker around.
Some people look at me when I am in a disabled space with a card but they don’t realise I have had to hip replacements and find it very difficult to get out of a car in the normal parking spaces
I am not disabled but I truly believe in this cause, my sister in law is in a wheelchair and the amount of times we haven’t been able to get her an accessible park only to wait and find able bodied people happily trotting to their cars in the much needed parks is beyond me and I am fed up, I have called the police a few times to no avail
I have cerebral palsy and use a walking frame 24/7 I have literally driven home having not done my errands because of lack of parking. Including missing hospital appointments!
I work with clients that need this parking, frustration when an able body parks in designed disabled . Now I block them in and I'm in the wrong.

I didnt officially appreciate how much of a deal it was until my mother was diagnosed with mnd.. what a necessicity it is to have that service. Winds me up when I frequently see teens parking to get an easy pizza or lazy arrogant people taking it for granted at our local shops!
