As auditor, Emer is an integral part of the NUIG Chess Society. It is therefore imperative that she be a part of any event organised by the Chess Society, and especially an event such as this, which raises much-needed funds for charity. Not alone will her presence greatly increase interest and sales of the calendar, but it will be a morale boost for others perhaps also too shy to volunteer. If the auditor of the society does not show faith that the calendar will be worthwhile and tasteful, how can anyone else be expected to? And after striking such a huge blow in gender equality in chess, by becoming auditor of the university chess society, it would be a terrible shame if all that good were undone by her shying away from partaking in an event such as this which shall highlight for once and for all that attractive women can and do play chess. Please forward this to all your friends so that we may convince her to do the right thing. Come April, we will present Emer with this petition in the hope that she will relent and grin and bare it with the rest of us.
