There are currently over 46 million men, women and children living in impoverished conditions in the United States, struggling day to day to make ends meet, and with many not knowing when or how their next meal will be come. The United States has implemented many different programs to support and assist with these communities; however, poverty prevention has commonly been ignored. Many families, individuals and communities live under destitute conditions as a result of suffering from some type of emergent or immediate hardship, such as a job loss, medical emergency,dangerously coupled withthe lack of maintaining any savings or emergency fund. I am petitioning the public to support the enactment of a law, allowing taxpayers (whether employed or not) to save money and generate interest on those savings on a tax deferred basis, whereby the tax deferral will be permanent if the savingsare used for emergency purposes. This would become a mechanism to assist in the prevention of families becoming impoverished.

In preparation of bill to be presented before Congress, it is my hope that others would see the necessity and value of such a law, as it would not only help those in need, but everyone.
