As strong supporters of a new ASDA store in Elland, we the undersigned would request that the decision on the competing Morrisons planning application in the town is 'called-in' by the Government. Although Calderdale Council has granted planning consent to Morrisons, the ASDA site is closer to the town centre, designated for retail and very popular within Elland. The ASDA scheme was deferred at the same planning meeting at which Morrisons was granted consent but we want the two schemes to be considered against each other in a fair & balanced way. We believe that a Morrisons 'call-in' at this point is the right and proper way for this to happen.
