Elimination of Tip Credit - Employee Wages: House Bill 7084

After working in the restaurant business my entire adult life I have one question for you. Have any of the people involved in this proposed legislation ever been a server, bartender, bus person or had a job that you received tips for? I've raised two children and been married for nearly 37 years while in the restaurant industry. I have done every job in the front and back of the house. What you are proposing is simply put one of the most destructive and idiotic pieces of legislation to a singled out industry ever devised. Why don't you look at how many lives you are going to impact negatively, how much you will decrease earnings and what a truly bad decision you may make before going any further. If you do this I will move to another state.

I will never eat in one of Danny Meyers restaurants again.

Enough is enough!

I am signing this petition in opposition of the tip credit elimination. Tipping is a part of dinning and eliminating it would destroy the restaurant industry and service within the industry.

If this happened I wouldn't make the money I do, pay the taxes I do, spend what I do or live like I do. You'd hurt the industry

Who is asking the lawmakers to make this change? Please show me the servers out there that are interested in this legislation. Why must lawmakers always get involved in things they know nothing about. All you will do with this is the complete opposite of what i suppose your goal is. That is taking more money out of people hands than putting more in it. This make no sense for anyone empoyers or employees.

Serve one night, and you'll understand why servers not only earn but deserve tips

The work force population that receive tips are not like jobs that make the true hourly wages. They aren't factory, construction, or retail; They are services that are provided to the consumer. They provide a luxury to the customer that creates an environment to make the experience as easy and relaxing as possible.

I work in the industry and this is just nuts

Please do not eliminate the tip credit.

PLEASE use your common sense here and stop the hurt on small businesses in CT.

Dear CT Legislators, I'm an Operations Director for 99 Restaurants & Pubs and have worked with 99 for 24 years (the last 20 of which have been in State of CT) and strongly disagree with proposed bill to eliminate the tip credit. This would severely negatively affect all restaurants and their employees. In fact it would take money out of employees earnings by forcing employers to change their business model to eliminate tipping of employees by guests. Thank you
