We believe that all students should have equal access to the best Yale experience possible regardless of socioeconomic status.
The $3,000 student "self help" contribution to financial aid forces students whose families cannot afford to pay it for them to work hundreds of hours each year, in addition to hours spent working to pay for the other expenses of college life.
In order to equalize access to all of the academic, extra-curricular, and social opportunities that Yale has to offer, we urge the University administration to completely phase out the student contribution to financial aid.
