The board finally voted to move to a mask optional policy. It took a long time to get here but we kept pushing until they had to listen. We will be watching to make sure this choice is actually respected in the classrooms moving forward.

To: Montville Board of Health & Montville Board of Education,
Over the past two years our children have been under restrictions set forth by Governor Murphy and his executive orders, requiring them to wear masks at school. With the announcement of the mask mandate being left to local decisons through the board of education consulting with the board of health on March 7th, we are requesting that our health and education leaders respect this decision and allow a mask optional policy in the schools.
The Montville Community has time and again voiced its overwhleming support of this mask optional policy. In June, when cases were much higher, and therapeutics were not as known, parents, school staff, and students (grades 6-12) voted overwhelmingly in favor (75%) of allowing a mask optional policy. This demonstrates the desire of the residents of the community to make their own independent decisions of what will work best for their family.
We are demanding you adopt a Mask Optional policy, so that those who still desire to wear a mask are allowed to, and those who feel otherwise are allowed to have their choice respected as well.
We thank you for your service to the Montville Community and look forward to you being receptive to the wishes of the residents.

Thank you for starting this. I am so tired of seeing my son struggle to breathe in those things all day long.
Enough is enough. Take them off.
Freedom of choice. That is all we are asking for.
My kids have been dealing with this for way too long. Its time to get back to normal and let us decide what is best for our own kids health.
Finally. The kids deserve to see each others faces and just be kids again. Hope the board actually listens to us this time.
