I am from San Francisco, where plastic bags are now banned. It is time that New Orleans followed suit; the amount of waste generated from copious plastic bag usage is unacceptable, especially at stores like Wal-Mart, where each bag is filled with one or two items.

either pass an ordinance or at the least establish a bag tax like in Washington D.C.
