Eliminate Lifetime Registration for Non Violent Sex Offenders-It’s Time for a Second Chance at Life

It’s time for something to change with the over bearing sex offender laws in Texas and America for that matter! There are too many men and women on the sex offender registry that doesn’t really need to be. Lifetime registration should only be for violent offenders. I am fighting to reduce the amount of time on the registration for nonviolent offenders, not to eliminate registration all together. It’s time for America to adopt a France like attitude and reduce the age of consent to 15. Also the term “Child” should be changed to “ Young Adult” in the 15-17 age bracket. If there was no violence then it shouldn’t be categorized as a violent crime. consensual sex is not a crime. Let me add that anything that wasn’t mutual or wanted by both parties is considered violent. This includes molestation, rape, ect.

Thank you Teola and yes Mary if there was no violence and this includes molestation or rape of any kind then those offenders should not have to register for a lifetime! That is rediculous!! If it was only the age difference that got a person in trouble then maybe they should only let them register for a very short while.. especially if they never commit another crime and finish parole! I will keep fighting until something changes!

Let me add that I am not fighting for the child molesters and rapists and real predators... I’m fighting for those who had a mutual and consensual partner who was underage. This happens everyday and if America would lower the age of consent then sexual assault and indecency with a child cases would be cut by over half!
