We are being overcharged by City of Cape Town and are getting less watss in comparison to JHB residents. The poor are suffering and being robbed.

My whole budget messed up how can they do this to us and in the heart of winter i use to buy electricity twice a month n get free units as im using it sparingly but now i pay double n i dont get free units.

I cant believe we are being robbed like this. What a disgrace by the City. How will we ever be refunded for this? We need to be rebated in water and electricity!!!! This is day light robbery!!!

I don't see how we can be expected to thrive with these costs... The tax on electricity is ridiculous, the price itself per kWh is ridiculous... It needs to end

I'm paying R200 pw for me and my 7 year old son. In a 89m2 2 bedroom house with 1 bathroom. This is seriously day light robbery.

I am a pensioner and the fact that my electricity has doubled has hit me particularly hard. CoCT, you are no longer working for me, but against me!

Last month I bought R300 electricity and I got 271.1 units. This month I bought R300 and I got 155.7 units. I'm a pensioner and I will have to spend R600 on electricity a month, which leaves me with R1000, then I still have to pay my rates and water bill. Not to mention buying groceries etc.

Big scale corruption at Escom and other institutions are the cause for these huge increases. We must stand together and fight this evil.

I'm an unemployed divorcee..can't afford these tariffs and can't cut down anymore on my usage..

People can hardly afford to buy food, let alone fork out so much for electricity. The recent price hike is crazy and unacceptable.

My husband retired, I am unemployed and semi disable. We are only two people in our house. On a R100 less vat,we only get 46 unit. This is unbelievable

The citizens must pay more for electricity but the council waste electricity.just look at street lights burning the entire day.

I have moved to a new location in Cape Town with my family and we are renting a 2 bedroom flat since January 2017. In July the price of electricity has basically doubled as i would need to buy double than what we did since moving in!! This is ridiculous and is putting even more strain on the working middle class. If the DA keeps this up they will soon be handing the WC back to the ANC.
