El Dorado County Residents Deserve FEMA Individual Assistance

Our family property was burned over by the Caldor Fire. While we lost our family camp, we did not lose a home and are not seeking assistance for ourselves. However, all of our nearest neighbors with homes on inholding properties surrounded by National Forest lands lost their homes and are currently on their own to recover and rebuild. We ask that the FEMA decision be reconsidered on an individual claim basis to assist those requesting assistance.

Completely agree FEMA should offer individual help..My husband and I are disabled and on fixed income we don't qualify for a loan..I did not ask to be in this situation..

WHY are homeowners in EL DORADO COUNTY being denied FEMA help? This appears to be an ongoing battle with the federal government. WHY is FEMA not following your assurance that "the people affected by the Caldor Fire would receive assistance." Come on President Biden -- stand by your word!

My husband and I and our 3 children lost our home of 6 years as well as all our neighbors in Grizzly Flats. Almost every home there was a full time residence, and some had been for multiple generations. There were very few vacation cabins in this community, and we experienced the most loss. It was also not a high income community, and a huge majority of residents had no insurance or we’re vastly underinsured. Please don’t take income levels of wealthy cities like El Dorado Hills and South Lake Tahoe into consideration for the needs of this small town, because although we are in the same county, we are worlds apart. The disparity between FEMA approval for Eastern US disasters and Western US disasters feels disparaging in comparison.

This town burned to the ground, literally. Without FEMA aid, there will be no recovery. Stop the suffering and save our gorgeous mountain town.

All that have lost their homes in this county due to Caldor fire need and deserve this assurance! Many are living in tiny trails or out of cars with no place rent in our overly saturated or over priced rental market! Their struggles have gone on far too long with no aid available. Even fresh water, showers and laundry all part of basic necessities are difficult! Assistance is long over due for these family who have lost everything and the rebuild is a very slow going process!
