Dear Innovators at Pinterest: We are a group of educators and administrators who appreciate and recognize the powerful role of technology in education and are excited at the possibilities Pinterest presents as a visual tool for student learning and teacher collaboration. Through your site, teachers and administrators have the power to share ideas, curate their resources, organize their materials and ideas, etc. Teachers and students are already talking about and using Pinterest to assemble their work for portfolios, collect assessment data in the form of photos and videos and demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. You many not fully understand how many educators are inspired by Pinterest, however, we do have concerns regarding online safety when it comes to using Pinterest with our students. We, as educators, are signing this petition as a request for a version of Pinterest, possible called PinterestEDU, as a sister site that takes into consideration the unique needs of the education profession and sets in place the filters and controls that are necessary for our 21st century students and educators to fully utilize your site effectively and safely.
