I have chronic pancreatitis, I know the pain, I know all that this disease steals from patients. We get treated like drug seekers, and as if we don't deserve care because we brought this on by being an alcoholic. Alcoholism is only one single cause of pancreatitis but all doctors seem to know is that alcohol causes it so the patient must be a drunk. We are not all drunks. I have Pancreas Divisum, which I was born with. And after 5 years of reccuring acute pancreatitis I ended up diabetic because of this condition. More education is definitely needed as to what pancreatitis is and what causes it and mostly how to treat it. We do not deny diabetic patients insulin. Pain sufferers, like those with pancreatitis, deserve adequate pain relief.

My son has suffered from acute/chronic pancreatitis for the past 7 years. The pain is horrendous and he has no quality of life. The last thing he should have to worry about is being judged by medical staff every time he needs treatment, assuming he is faking his pain and seeking drugs.

Finding a hospital and provider that can diagnose and treat CP is crucial. Insurance companies are also a huge hurdle !

I suffer immensely also and it is not due to alcohol. I rarely drink. Drs know far less than what random support groups know.

I suffered with pancreatitis for fifteen years before I got relief with the TPIAT procedure. I was repeatedly labeled as a drug seeker or ignored by doctors who didn't have the time to research what was wrong with me. I was in real pain; the most painful pain I've ever been in on my life.

I also suffer from this horrible disease. I know and have been through the ERs turning us away to die! Doctors refusing to treat us, inability to get need pain relief and pharmacies refuing to fill scripts and purposely embarrassing us in public! Without pain control, we can be given a death sentence! Don't OUR lives matter?

Please help us all that are suffering. It is so painful and takes a lot just to get through a day. We have no quality of life.
