The government has laid off over 25,000 teachers in California.  15,000 other faculty have also been laid off. The evidence?? “…The state Department of Education estimates that preliminary pink slips will have been handed to 26,500 teachers by the Sunday cutoff — two-and-a-half times as many as were issued last year. Some 15,000 bus drivers, janitors, secretaries and administrators also were expected to receive the written warnings, said Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell.”

Here is a quote from the author of this article...

"The lay off of this magnitude of teacher and support staff negatively impacts the quality of education that the children receive. No politician can be believed if there is any equivocation on this matter. Losing teachers and support staff lowers the day-to-day standards of the school experience. Not only are the school age children inheriting massive debt, they will be less able to compete in a global marketplace. And that is simply unfair."

-Catherine Forsythe

My main question is...if the government wants better scores....how do we get them with low funding? I am an eight grader who is wondering if all the doors in the future are open, considering our school fundings have been reduced and yet the people up in Sacremento still have HUGE paychecks. Observe.
