Education is not optional, it is necessary and if our public schools were adequately staffed, and teachers paid then there would be no need for people to have to pay for private schools. The fate of this nation is dependent on the generation presently being educated, do you really want to deny children a good education when clearly the state isn't interested in doing so?

"Food, clothing and housing" is still our struggles for many of us in Guyana. Adding VAT to education will be the nail in the coffin!

How can one tax the future of tomorrow? Less stationery and books in the bags less the children have to work with. Should have a petition for health care as well

Currently a student at nations doing the AIB.
Previously an educator in the USA at the college level and no such system was in place.
Taxing our children for their education, regardless of your definition of "children" is a very poor decision.
Guyana has one of the strongest education systems out there, my time learning in Guyana has put me far above my competition in other countries.
We do not want people to think "oh well, let's skip school and start working instead" it will be a very bad outcome for this country.

I do not agree with the 14% imposition on eduactional materials and neither on the private education fees.....it will not propel education for future Guyanese but will place burden on the family.....so no!!!!! No!!!!!

This is absolutely unacceptable. The tax policy of the GOG is oppressive, even on the education system. The irony is that the GOG claims to support the education of all its people, yet it is taking punitive measures against the same system it claims to support. AGAIN, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Applying VAT to education is not contributing to a better, brighter, greener Guyana!!
It is already a challenge for most of us to honour our financial commitments, to add VAT to our education related expenses is putting a huge hurdle in the path to achieving our goals. Some of us will have no alternative but to drop out...
