Let the Children Go Back to School

Well said. This has been a politicized cold. While it has serious ramifications for some, we all must evaluate risks on our own and do what's right in our lives without affecting 99% of the rest of people who will not be affected. Those who are at risk should mitigate their exposure by doing what THEY need to do without infringing on the rights of others who are willing to accept the small risk involved with this virus.

Mr. Clines, Given light of today’s decision with a “recommended school delay” by Gov Beshear, I wanted to take a moment and write. I send my child to a diocesan Catholic school and have since he was in Kindergarten because I value the education they receive and the faith that they are brought up in. The thought of not sending our children back to school due to this over politicized and divisive "pandemic" is quite honestly nothing short of devastating. I will not pay for an education my child will not receive in the traditional manner. If I had wanted online schooling for my child I would have saved well over $90,000 in the past 13 years. I don't want my child sitting at a computer screen any more than he already does. I want the interaction with school teachers...our faith filled classroom leaders. These men and women are dedicated to helping be a large part of the formation of our youth and future generations of Catholics. My son will graduate this year from Covington Catholic. But the only way he will be able to enjoy that honor is if he receives in person instruction. Myself, my wife, my son and countless other parents and students feel the same way. We will not pay for an education that is anything short of what it has been. Bob Rowe, his staff, teachers and facility teams have put in countless, thankless hours, all to prepare the school and it's staff for the students return. Please do not let that effort be for naught. I encourage the Diocese of Covington to make the right call. Send our kids back to school. Respectfully, Rick Lohre

Please allow our children to go to school. As parents, we are aware of the risks. The detriment to our kids is starting to outweigh the benefit.

My children need to be in a physical classroom. There is a reason I make the sacrifice to pay tuition and send my children into the Catholic school. The sense of community that the Catholic Church stood for is the primary reason. The acts of this Diocese of Covington caving to this KY state governor's see through sham is a bad example of standing for justice and seperation of state and Church. You set this example for our children and for me. If you thought you had masses of Catholics that struggle to keep the faith in The Church before now, you have a bigger issue coming down the line with a series of children and parents that have no loyalty from the schools they took so much pride in being part of before this political circus you have chisen to take part in. Community meant more at one time to the Catholic church but even they let this world change their doctrines.

Nothings can substitute in person learning.

We send our kids to a catholic school because God needs to be the core of all...including their education. God said, Thou Shalt not fear. This virus doesn’t scare me...teaching our kids to hide in their homes, to be scared of God’s creation, to fear our brothers and sisters and distance ourselves from them. If you shut down these schools, you are basically telling our kids not to believe in God and his teachings.

Don’t damage our kids any more! Get them in school!

My children want and NEED to have in-person instruction! We kindly ask the Diocese to allow all Catholic schools, to continue with our scheduled start date of next week as planned. I fully trust and believe in the safety plans our principal, Ms. Zeck, at St. Joseph School in Crescent Springs, has put in place to keep our children safe & healthy. Please take the lead and show that children CAN and SHOULD return to school. We pray you will respectfully decline the Governor’s recommendations and serve as a leader to other school districts during this time. Thank you. Mrs. Erin Meyer

3 children at St. Henry elementary

VMA has done an amazing job over the Summer preparing for the return to in person instruction. The catholic schools are ready and will follow guidelines. Returning to in person learning will allow schools and parents to perfect guidelines and practices to stay safe and healthy. Staying home will have long term effects on our kids learning and development, specially younger students that are learning the fundamentals of math, reading and writing.

The Diocese needs to have our children back in school and advocate for the many parents that hold a reasonable belief that covid, while real, does not exist in a vacuum.

2 daughters at Newport Central Catholic and 1 daughter at St Catherine, all desperately want to go back to in person learning! We can do this safely, I have full trust in the administration teams!
