Children/school pupils should be taught more than just reading, writing and arithmetic at school. We need to push the Scottish Government to make First Aid compulsory in all Scottish schools. The UK are currently behind in first aid teaching compared to the rest of Europe. it will save lives and drastically reduce waiting times at Accident and Emergency Departments. The World Health Organisation has recently identified that there are more minor/major injuries, than there are tuberculosis, Malaria and HIV put together. With education in the UK more people can become equipped in helping teach sustainable first aid over in Africa. The best way to ensure this knowledge is out there is to make the teaching of first-aid part of the school curriculum in Scotland so that future generations have skills which could save lives!
