I do not agree introducing Chromebook to elementary students. Its decreasing the social interaction and they are more distracted towards other gaming stuff played on the Chromebook.

My son isn't socializing with other students on projects. They login and work via google documents. Three students each at their own desks, looking at a screen and not talking, discussing, or collaborating.
Moderation is key.

As with all things moderation is key. Technology is a tool, not a crutch. It appears that the teachers are being deprived of the opportunity to individualize instruction.

As far as I know the Peadiatritions say the screen time for kids should
be between 1 -2 hrs. The use of chrome books all day long along with some TV watching is how many hours? Also the use of chromebook is going to affect their elbow, wrist, and fingers in the long run. We should spend money on AC in the school than this technology which is not helping kids.

My child is in middle school. While health concerns are foremost, there are also concerns about the repair costs which are to be paid by the parents after the first repair, which is covered by the school. Last year the school teachers were assigning HW only online and we had to buy a laptop specifically for our child. Now this ...
We were not even given a choice to optout since our child already has a dedicated laptop to use.

Thank you concerned parents!!! I went to the school board via email over three weeks ago with the same concerns for my third grader. Not only these issues but we either have trouble loading the homework due to the filter not working or unable to access wifi if we are not home or there is not a hot spot.

There are lot of side effects using computer screens for extended use. 1 to 2 hours of watching computer screen can harm kids eyes. Please limit the use of computers for the elementary and middle school kids.
