I would like to seriously explore what is needed to bring this concept to South Shore (Chicago South Side).

To Anonymous,
Your questions were about transportation from our bus route to your door and, whether you can have someone or yourself shop from home and just go pick up at the store.
We are not currently wanting our teen entrepreneurship staff deliver from the route stop in their assigned territory to your home. We concede there are some risks of violence or theft in the communities we hope to assist. We will have room for the personal carts people use to transport groceries on our coach buses and, we will be delivering to the senior centers where a designated person transmits orders for the building.
2nd question is yes, anyone can shop from home and simply drive to the store pickup lane to retrieve orders placed online.

This sounds like a very good idea! I am most impressed by the transportation component of this proposal; reliable, regular transportation would make shopping easier for many senior citizens in the area. This kind of help, getting to and from the grocery store and back, if implemented, could be a lesson, not just to the people of the neighborhood, but to all of Chicago and the world, that we really care about the well-being of our older citizens.
I have a couple of questions though:
I suppose some transportation help is better than none, but, will there be help carrying my bags from the bus to my door? Dumping me out on the street with a load of groceries I can't carry puts me right back at square one.
Will I be able to have someone "shop" for me from my home, using a computer, and then send them to pick up my order?
I wish you the best of luck, we sure can use the help!

This supermarket project is a solution for communities which have been neglected, too long. It combines a supermarket with economic development, employment, education, healthy life style choices and much more. These things are necessary for a community to thrive.

Grocery shopping is too large a part of peoples lives to assume it makes little difference to a community. And whenever an idea involves bringing decent jobs, there's no reason not to do it!
