Hair and spa professionals that are concerned that they have been overlooked for the early roll out of BC COVID 19 vaccines.

We are not advocating to be put ahead of anyone that has health challenges or a job that puts them at risk. We are simply asking that we get considered for an earlier vaccination time then the younger (30yrs and under) general population.

Updates

The government is choosing to ignore the reality of our close contact work while we risk our health every single day. I am tired of being treated like we are invisible by the people running this province. We are keeping the pressure on the health ministry until they finally acknowledge that we deserve protection.

I am inches from my clients all day long. How are we not considered essential enough for faster access? Its stressful going to work wondering if I am going to get sick or pass it on to my family.

The hairdressing industry is allowed to stay opened not because it is an essential service. It is because we have proven that we take precautions seriously that there has been relatively no infection in our industry. No one dies because they can't get their hair done. We should leave the limited stock of vaccines to real essential workers like grocery clerks, health care workers and teachers etc. If we don't feel safe at all to work, we have the choice to stay home. The government did not force us to stay opened....they allow to stay opened. There is a difference between the two.

Being asked to stay open but then not being considered to receive the vaccine early is classiest. Service workers are in close contact with individuals for multiple times a day. We have vaccinated restaurant employee’s, who are now closed.
