cyclists represent a continual risk to my family - with numerous incidents almost causing major injury to my children. the junction of garratt lane to magdalen road is not capable to address a cross over planned as such without some serious accidents occurring. no doubt cycling helps the improves air quality for my children, but there are too many negatives for me to support this scheme.

Since the success of Bens Canteen and Bean and Hop Trewint Street, a narrow residential road, has become very busy. It is constantly full of parked cars and it has become quite hazardous for cars to pass down as there is no space to overtake. It would not be sensible to add to already overly used and congested residental road a cycle quietway!

This is going make other surrounding roads like rat runs to avoid the traffic lights suggested in this place.

Unhappy with this proposal as the no right turn will cause a lot of problems and congestion in this area!

Agree with all of the comments below. This is a ridiculous idea. I live in Isis Street and I do not want my road used as a cut through to avoid yet more traffic. Also sometimes I have to park in Wayneflete already due to the lack of parking around, therefore reducing parking there seems rather a silly idea. At this rate, late at night I'll be parking up to two streets away which isn't safe, convenient or fair considering the amount I pay for a parking permit every year. There is already so much traffic in Earlsfield because of two sets of traffic lights close to each other - this will cause even more traffic and congestion. Also people will be diverting along Tranmere etc even more if there's yet another set of lights on Garratt Lane to avoid traffic, so you are sending yet more rat run traffic past a large school which is very dangerous.

This proposal makes no sense and strikes me as yet another Council vanity project. It will create extra traffic, congestion and pollution in an area where there are many schools, not to mention the disruption caused by months of roadworks and construction. Parking for residents near their homes will become more difficult, in itself a health and safety hazard for parents, children and the elderly. The benefits to cyclists are not obvious given how narrow some of these streets are.

This is a badly thought out route that will cause unnecessary increase in traffic congestion and danger to pedestrians in Earlsfield. The changes in traffic lights and reduction in parking spaces will affect both residents and businesses in a negative way. A better quietway would be one making more use of the Wandle Trail up to Wandsworth and the Wandsworth Common/Putney Heath cycle route which could be extended to Clapham Common.

I object to the proposal as it will create a traffic and parking issue on Waynflete Street. Already parking is an issue around the area whereby residents from other roads use Waynflete street to park.

I cannot understand how anyone would think/believe that Waynflete Street having a cycle way added is a better proposal than Magadalen Road that already partly benefits from a cycle way. Magdalen Road is both wider and also has a large area of land - cemetery - near the current traffic lights that is not residential. Pushing traffic down Waynflete Street and adjoining streets that already suffer from parking congestion during school days - and that’s before one even brings into the equation the further removal of 9 parking spaces in Waynflete Street - will not only add further pressure but also automatically guarantee increased noise and traffic pollution in what is a far more compact residential area than Magdalen Road. This is a badly thought out proposal, especially for the tight knit community that already has to contend with a main artery (Garratt Lane) next door. Introducing further noise and car polluiton into an already polluted environment benefits no one, least of all the residents of the proposed streets that will be affected. The streets affected by this propoasl are already heavily trafficed by small children. Concentrating traffic further and repositioning the current pedestrian crossing will translate into those streets being increasingly used as rat runs - with the inherent dangers that brings.

As a local resident who regularly walks, drives and cycles along this route I believe the proposed changes are unnecessary and rather than resolve any minor congestion issues will create a range of major problems for local businesses, residents and Garratt Lane road users - as discussed by other signatories.

As a resident of Waynflete street I strongly object to the proposal of having the Quietway run through Waynflete street. Adding traffic lights at the junction will cause further congestion and will have a great impact on the surrounding area. The no right-turn into Waynflete street will cause an increase in traffic in neighbouring streets, which will cause extra noise and air pollution. Waynflete street and Tranmere Road are already very congested at school drop off and pick up times and this proposal will create absolute chaos at those times. The safety of children and the elderly will be compromised, due to the increase in traffic. The school on Waynflete street is a specials needs school and this proposal will impact the children and their parents greatly. Finding parking on Waynflete street in the evenings and on the weekends can already be a challenge as many people park in Waynflete street to visit the nearby cafes/restaurants/shops, removing 9 parking spaces will cause the residents even more problems with parking.
A better alternative solution to the suggested proposal is to have the Quietway run down Magdalen Road to Garratt Lane and for cyclists to turn right into Summerley street and continue onwards.

I object to the quietway proposals for a number of reasons:
1 - Garratt Lane is already gridlocked at peak times - adding another set of traffic lights will not solve that issue
2 - Garratt Lane is a vital north/south artery especially for emergency vehicles - this proposal will make it more difficult for police cars and ambulances to travel along the road
3 - the removal of the pedestrian crossing will make it more difficult for residents to get to the shops/restaurants on the opposite side of the road
4 - the removal of much-needed parking spaces is absurd
5 - the proposal will push more traffic from Garratt Lane to Isis Street, Quinton Street, Tranmere Road, Swaby Road, etc - these roads are not designed for any further increase in traffic
6 - Pushing more traffic onto roads where schools and nurseries are situated is unacceptable.

This would impact parents dropping their children of at The Chelsea group of children on Waynflette street. It's a school for special needs and a lot of them need to be driven in from far away, this would impact on them as families as they would have to walk a lot further.

Whilst I am an advocate of promoting safe cycling being a cyclist myself I strongly object to this proposal.
As a resident of Tranmere Road and more importantly a parent of Children at Earlsfield Primary School I feel that this proposal will increase the pressure on the junctions surrounding the (already very busy) junction of Tranmere Road and Magdalen Road and increase driver frustration on our busy roads and endangering pedestrians and school children.
Increased pressure on, what are already effectively one way streets due to there being no passing places, Isis, Quinton and Littleton Streets will result in drivers becoming frustrated with the knock on likely to be more aggressive driving and ultimately posing increased risk of accidents with pedestrians/Children etc. Driver frustration is already at peak levels on these roads and I speak from experience having lived on Quinton Street for 4 years before moving to Tranmere Road some 8 yrs ago.
The junction of Garrat Lane with Magadelen Road sees long queues both during peak and "non-peak" hours and by restricting traffic turning right on to Wayneflete Street this will make the situation worse.
Consideration should, in my opinion, be given to providing some form of priority to cyclists at the Garrat Lane/Magdalen Road junction by way of phasing the lights in favour of cyclists only. This phasing should be sensor/cctv activated so as not to hinder other road users at what is already s busy junction.
Whilst I am not a resident of Wayneflete Street I feel that this propsed quietway would have a seriously detrimental affect on residents of Waynflete.
Surely the funds earmarked for this would be better invested by improving cyclists priority when cycling down magdalen Road and turning left at the junction with Garrat Lane and then smooth passage/priority if turning right in to Summerly Street.
