WHEREAS, the posted speed limit on all streets within the Eagle Ridge Golf Community is 25 miles per hour, and

WHEREAS, vehicles - golfers, school buses, commercial vehicles, construction vehicles, and, yes, even residents - rarely travel at, and often far in excess of, the posted speed limit, and

WHEREAS, many homeowners are very concerned for their safety while working in their yards near a street, for the safety of children playing in yards or on public sidewalks, and for the safe entry onto a street when backing vehicles out of driveways, and

WHEREAS, the continuous enforcement of existing laws and ordinances regarding speed limits in a community as large as Eagle Ridge is difficult, if not impossible, and

WHEREAS, when designed and installed properly, speed humps will reduce vehicle speeds to 15-20 mph at the hump and 25-30 mph between humps in a series, now

THEREFORE, the following petitioners ask that the Eagle Ridge Golf Community Homeowners Association Board of Directors make a formal request of the Town of Garner to conduct a study of the optimal placement, size, and cost of speed humps in Eagle Ridge and install speed humps on neighborhood streets based on the results of that study.

Updates

May 26, 2012

I have officially requested a formal hearing with the HOA Board to present the preliminary data on neighborhood traffic patterns. This petition will serve as the primary documentation for our argument when we sit down with the Town of Garner officials.

Too many people fly down these streets like its a race track. Scary trying to pull out of my driveway with kids on bikes around. We need these installed asap.
