Dear Mayor-elect Gray,

I have heard that the resignation of Rob Hildum as Interim Director at DYRS is up in the air and that he may remain at the agency.  Mr. Mayor-Elect, I believe that when you accepted his resignation as interim director you sent a strong message to the District, its parents, and its youth that you believe that the rehabilitation and reintegration of young people back into the social fabric of our city was important to your administration. 

Given Mr. Hildum's track record at the agency, the increase in punishment-first treatment of youth through isolation, and the marked increase in revocations of community placement, it is crucial that you not allow him to remain at the agency.

As an advocate and your constituent, I ask that you appoint Barry Holman to this position and continue to lead on juvenile justice issue.
