The YMCA of South Florida, Greater Hollywood, has an amazing gymnastics program! However, this petition is to enhance their program by welcoming a new class into the gymnasium, structured for children with special needs. This class will be a one-to-one and then eventually move into small group classes.
The objective is to create a safe and fun environment where children with special needs can have a structured yet exciting experience, progress in gross and fine motor skills, speech, social-play, building self-esteem and body confidence. Gymnastics is an enjoyable sport that is known to improve overall strength, balance, coordination, and concentration.
Currently, there are no gymnastic programs uniquely designed for children with special needs in the Greater Hollywood YMCA. We wish to support and assist children and families so they may enjoy and participate in a beautiful sport with a little help from the YMCA.
Signatures for this petition are to express to the YMCA of South Florida, the necessity and strong desire for this class in the community. Please join us to support the development of this program and/ or if you would like to sign up for this exciting new devision.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting uphill climb but seeing the momentum grow confirms that this program is a necessity. I am feeling the weight of the work ahead yet your commitment keeps me moving forward.

Every child should have opportunities in life regardless of their fiscal challenges.
My Autistic daughter participates in Gymnastics and it has given her a greater sense of self-worth and belonging. I would certainly welcome another center in South Florida at which she can train.

Being a long time Hollywood resident, I truly appreciate it this for the community. Makes me happy inside.
As a mother of a child who has disabilities, I strongly feel there is a lack of activities and would not only love to see this transpire but also would definitely take my son to participate in a gymnasium like environment. He would greatly benefit from this program!
