I am part of a group of friends that frequently visit (12 times in the past 6 months) this area for social 4wd'ing,lunching, swimming and assisting with educating friends new and old on proper 4wd'ing technique. This area is extemely user friendly to access and use. Most of the dunes are climbed with vision of what is happening in/around the areas. The area is great for friends and family to relax without the level of traffic, speed and noise of the vehicles and facility at Lanclin. The link to the City of Wanneroo webpage (http://www.wanneroo.wa.gov.au/Planning/Temporary_Closure_of_Dewars_Beach_Access_Track - identifies several points however the main point of "The key reason for the closure of the track is the high risk of serious vehicle collisions, not only on the track itself but also on the beach" could be reduced by adopting a minimum equipment standard; sandflag, 2ways and dedicated channel until on the beach. Losing this area to social 4wd'ing would be a shame!
