This sum is a ridiculous amount for what use to be free or paid for by our taxes. Tell the citizens BOC where the money that was used for garbage in the past has gone. Several members of the BOC are up for elections, if we can't get relief they do not need to be reelected.

I agree. The rate is too high, especially for seniors like me. I see people dumping there all the time with other county license vehicle tags and no recycle center tag. Thanks for starting the petition.

BOC, you need to find another way to solve this problem. If you required the drivers to have a pickup quota daily you could eliminate some drivers and trucks and pass the savings on to the citizens. I have seen first hand where new drivers will pick up twice as many loads as the embedded drivers. Then the embedded drivers give out warnings to the new drivers to not make them look bad. This needs some attention.

It’s not just these the elderly, vets and indigent that have had a negative impact from these fees. Fees that continue to go up each year at an alarming rate. Families with hard working parents have been affected as well. If families with one or more gainfully employed members are feeling the affect of these rising fees I can only imagine how elderly, fixed income families and veterans are coping.

Was a bad idea to start with,
Property taxes increase every year ,with NO increase in services..There should be NO fees for the dump. Citizens were gouged in 2 ways,mandatory garbage pick up fees and dump fees.

My husband is a veteran and we are both senior citizens. We have a hard time trying to pay this every year. Any help will be appreciated.

It is extortion to charge residents this fee for being good stewards. Should be no fee for newton county residents period.

I am an attendant at one of the centers. I personally deal with a lot of senior citizens that pay the full fee. They bring 1 to 2 bags of trash and recyclable a week while I have to witness people that abuse the system and bring large loads to my center. They pay the same.

This fee forces people to dump their trash on the side of the dirt road I live on. The hours should also be addressed. They are very inconvenient!

Our county has turned to a landfill all throughout the county. Mattresses. furniture, trash is being dumped everywhere. It makes no sense!
