An integral part of a healthy ecosystem, ducks consume mosquito and insect larvae, and invasive pondweeds as a large part of their natural diet. In addition, ducks provide companionship and aesthetic to those seeking a calm place to relax in nature. It is not only important to preserve them, but it is unethical not to do so. Installing official ramps for the ducklings will not only keep the ecology healthy, it will make many citizens happy as well.

Please leave the ramps for these babies. It's not harming anyone keeping them there. It is however costing little ducklings their lives by removing them! I was told Carmel is a nice town. Now I'm thinking otherwise.

The City of Indianapolis installed duck ramps at the downtown canal years ago after discovering ducklings could not get out. Surely Carmel can do this.
