Dublin city would never be the same without buskers. If they are gone then dublin would lose it's personality nd become a worse place

Don't take the joy from city living - music soothes the soul and reverses the stresses and strains of urban life, leading to a more harmonious, cohesive society. Don't take that away!

Without the Arts, a culture will die , and busking makes live music accessible to everyone.

I'm Italian and I've been in Dublin since November.. What I like most of the city is the lovely atmosphere that you feel while you walk down the streets.. Dublin without buskers will be a grey boring city. Save Dublin. SAVE THE BUSKERS.

I would like to see the following happen.........
1. Abandoning of all current bye laws and proposed amendments in favour of a transparent and democratic system of self-regulation and simple rules as was done recently in the UK, where London and Liverpool local governments have rolled back on similar initiatives imposing bans and restrictions on street performance since 2012.
2. amendment of proposed ‘Excluded Activities’-such as face painting instead replaced by a requirement for a street performance permit to complete an audition before a panel of key stakeholders which will view each act on a case by case basis on each acts individual merits.
3. a commitment from city management for consultation with DCB in any and all revision to the existing Street Performance Bye Laws; and
4. establishment of a working sub-committee or task force with participation by DCB, two elected representatives as well as senior authorised officers from Dublin City Council, and other stakeholders, such as businesses and residents.
5. no outright ban on amplifiers instead a system of designated Zones to be agreed by the Key stakeholders
6. Citywide decibel limit when measured at 30cm of 97dB Mon-Thurs and 107dB Fri-Sun.
7. A value-for-money consideration and reform of current two tier permitting system in favour of one simple ‘General Area Permit’. Which should cost €30 per annum and have a €10 Renewal fee per annum.
8. extensions to 12am (midnight) Fri, Sat and Sun (Bank Holiday) and 11am start time on a Sun.
9. acoustic busking to be permitted in designated areas between the hours of 11pm – 11am.
10. a performer to have a sufficient repertoire of 60mins no repeating of songs.
11. to eliminate repetition an act my not perform in same pitch on two consecutive days or twice in the same day.
12. development of an area and appropriate permit for sale of self-produced art and crafts to be put on the agenda for the upcoming casual trading Bye law review for discussion.
