Having seen the video of dublin city council discussing street performance with amplifiers and without I want to know why they can deem some music "bad" of their own accord, is it not all subjective? And why have the shop owners been consulted but not the musicians? Both are making a living so clearly both should be consulted.

What reason or right do some people in an office have to take away harmless joy from artists and the people of Dublin, not to mention needlessly stripping the city of a huge part of its charm.

I believe there should be wattage restrictions on each players gear, and a ban on PAs. But to stop plugging in altogether would just ruin the great quality of Irish street music, and to ban it would destroy and remove a cultural tradition older than the streets they play on!!

I've just been on a recent visit to Dublin and found the street entertainment a part of the cities atmosphere it would be such a shame to lose this .All the best to those trying to save the busking.

Came to Dublin last week for a holiday, thoroughly enjoyed it and one of the key reasons was the buskers. Constant entertainment. Brilliant. You really do not want to lose it.

As a foreigner, I can state that street music is one of the reasons that would make me choose a city for a tourism visit, and it is one of the major ways to express and interlace diferent cultures and musical influences.
