You must be knowing that Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has proposed a parking & infrastructure at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib which is estimated to cost a whopping Rs. 350 crores.

Do you really think it is worth to spend this unjustifiably huge amount of money on parking which will be used in its capacity only 3 times a year?

Please think wisely - ACT NOW!

Respected President,
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee,

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

This letter is regarding an “Infrastructure Project” proposed to be taken up by
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) in Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib
at a cost of Rs. 350 crores.

In a recent Sponsored Program “Goonja Sikh Virse Diyaan” on Time TV on
10th April and again in “Khalsa Sirjana Diwas Samagam” at Gurdwara Rakabganj
Sahib on 14th April you have intimated Sikh Sangat about the grand plan of developing
underground parking and infrastructure on surface at an estimated cost of Rs 350
crores. All along, during all the Gurupurabs in the year 2010, you had intimated the Sikh
Sangat that parking and landscaping project at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib will be taken
up at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 crores. You have, however, not shared any information with the Sikh Sangat about the sudden escalation in cost from Rs. 50 crores to Rs. 350 crores.

While we appreciate that parking outside Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib on
Gurpurabs causes inconvenience to devotees and other fellow citizens, but to overcome similar situations Delhi Government has enforced Park & Ride facilities for events at Pragati Maidan, Ferozeshah Kotla - Cricket Stadium instead of providing underground parking. Similar action can be taken by us also. Such a big parking, which  will be used may be three or four times in a year on Gurpurabs does not justify such a huge investment and will, perhaps, lead to demolition of Lakhi Shah Vanjra Hall, DSGMC office, Langar Hall, Staff Quarters etc., which is uncalled for and will lead to wasteful expenditure.

Moreover, the present committee of DSGMC has already completed its term.
Therefore, it needs to desist from taking decision on making such a huge investment in a
hurry and should first consider possible alternatives to save on the above expenditure. In our opinion the savings can be better utilized for: -

a) Completing Guru Harkrishan Hospital project at Gurdwara Bala Sahib. It is
understood that the project was given to an agency for completion, on partnership
basis, who had envisaged investment of Rs 200 Crores on their part. Since the
agency will invest a huge amount, only a few beds will be reserved for needy
families. If DSGMC invests the amount then all the beds will be available for poor
and needy, which will be as per teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib;

b) Set up a corpus fund of Rs. 150 Crores, on the lines of Maulana Azad Foundation
and utilise interest on the same for education and training etc. of needy families to
enable them to earn a better living and for increasing the representation of Sikhs
in Civil and Defence services.

In view of the above position, kindly reconsider and save on wasteful expenditure
at this juncture. We shall be grateful to you for this kind act.

Yours sincerely,
