Do you think welfare recipients should be drug tested? There are thousands of people who abuse the welfare system that Connecticut offers. Is it fair that welfare recipients use the taxes pulled from hard working Connecticut residents for food and living expenses, and yet are able to afford illegal habits? According to recent headlines, the EBT cards used by welfare recipients have been traced and the locations of use are shocking and aggravating. Individuals are using their cards at casino ATMs, clothing and liquor stores, convenience stores for cigarettes and are even being used in exchange for drugs or cash. In addition, according to The Ledger, 84% of employers require a passed drug test for an individual to be considered for hire. Yet, recipients of housing assistance programs, cash assistance programs, SNAP, etc have no standard requirements against this, as the taxpayers do. This is unfair to the hard working American who struggles himself. If you agree, please sign the petition linked below. Once the petition gathers enough signatures, it will be sent with a formal letter to State Representatives and the Governor. If there is something you’d like to add please contact us or place it in the discussion section on our website.

In addition, do you know anybody who snaked their way around the system to use one of these welfare services? Do they make a good salary while working “under the table” and claim to be unemployed to receive these welfare benefits? Or perhaps they claim to live alone, when in fact there are additional members in the household who all also claim to live alone to receive these benefits? Connecticut needs a service that allows residents to make anonymous reports on these issues, where they will be taken seriously and be investigated.
