It is getting more and more stressful as this continuous dry spell continues, having to feed cattle, money to feed them is coming harder by to feed them, costs are going up in price, trying to keep other bills paid and farmers with young families are all now starting to struggle, not mention cattle are not worth anything!!!! If us farmers don't get help soon, there won't be beef and other wonderful products that farmers produce! Just remember, without us farmers there won't be food on the table!!!!!!

We look outside our door ever day at the devastation this drought is causing. Having to put down cattle is not nice. Watching cows struggle to fee their calves and have enough energy to move around the paddocks to find feed is depressing. Help or not we will push on, the only question is how much we will have when help finally comes. We are losing this battle and need help NOW not next month. Farmers feed the nation, we are PRIMARY PRODUCERS its just a pity we aren't a primary concern for the government.

So much feed on the now not used stock routes could be cut and sent up to the drought affecte d stock or even bring them here and eat it down AND CLEAN UP 1. THE FEED 2. FIRE HAZARD. THE ROADSIDE........and help thee Farmers win win all round.d

Mr Abbott this country you now have the privilege of leading was founded on the back of farmers, it is time that the people we elect to represent us do the job they are payed for and properly serve the people in rural areas , you won,t get a second chance.

30 station horses from the Cloncurry area were shot on Friday instead of starving to death. So sad, our farmer need help desperately, how come flood victims get help but in this severe drought the farmers seemingly get nothing.

our farmers are the livelyhood of australia without them we would have no produce to eat no money coming in from exports. our government needs to help our country before sending billions of dollars overseas wake up Abbott.

The goverment really needs to wake up to itself and realise that farmers just can't do it alone any more. When a farmer takes his own life not because of depression but simply because they are worth more financially to their family as insurance money than Australia is in crisis. I am sure the government can find the money somewhere (perhaps the foreign aid budget or one less pay rise for pollies) to provide assistance to help subsidize the cost of transport for livestock, feed, or just reopen the live export trade would also help. We understand that you will get more votes in higher density population areas but when those areas start running out of food perhaps the government will take notice then. Come on Tony Abbott, you put your hand up to say you could do a better job, start showing Australia you ARE the better man for the job!

Agree. Long past action time. Australia is on danger of becoming an importer of foods, not to offer choice as the do now, but for survival!!

With the funding the Australian Government wastes on boat people, overseas aid and the like, it is a bad joke our own farmers have to suffer at the hands of the greed and recklessness of misuse of taxpayers money at the hands and decisions made by the Australian Government.

Agree, look after our own & keep money IN our country....They have been out of sight, out of mind for long enough... It might not affect you today, but trust that it will have an affect in the future....
