To Mayor Walkup, Councilmembers Fimbres, Glassman, Kozachik, Romero, Scott and Uhlich:
We the undersigned are outraged that from January 1st, Access Tucson funding has been completely eliminated. We demand that Access Tucson's rightful funding -- from the $1.38 paid by Cox Cable subscribers for P.E.G. Access -- be immediately restored.
Please note that if you have already signed the paper version of the petition,
you do not need to sign the online version of the petition. We want to
prevent duplicate signatures.
I have been reading through the comments all morning and it really hits home how much Access Tucson meant to everyone who used it for their projects. The mayor has not said a single word back to me yet but I am still typing up more letters to the councilmembers because they need to understand that we are not just going to let the funding disappear without a fight.

What is at stake here is an entirely community's right to free speech and a 30 year history (legacy); neither need be compromised to the tune of any dollar denomination. You can't put a price on what is priceless.

Really disappointed in the council. They promised transparency and then kill the one place where locals actually get to speak.

Ridiculous that they think they can just cut this service. Everyone pays that cable fee for a reason and it should go to actual public access not just lining their pockets.

Access Tucson has been a huge part of this city for so long. My kids learned so much there over the years. Bring it back now.

Fix this mess. Cox subscribers pay that money specifically for these programs and the city needs to stop stealing it.

STOP TAKING OUR LOCAL MEDIA AWAY. We need a place for real people to film and share things that arent just corporate garbage.
