There is a greater need for change! There is a greater need for unity! Why are we only unified when there is a tragedy? We as an African American community have lost countless lives over the years due to senseless violence at the hands of our peers!

The purpose of this petition is to unify us as one, bring awareness to the effects of senseless violence and to most importantly STOP the senseless violence that occurs every day within our communities. Not only do these violent acts take place in the media, but they also take place throughout our communities, in the things we watch and listen to, and even the things we joke about. However, where is the laughter when it is someone who is closest to you that has now lost their live due to the hands of someone of their own age group and their own ethnicity?

Ask yourself, why must we kill each other? For Greed? Hatred? Revenge? No matter how you look at it, there is no reason to justify the action of taking the life of another...so why do we still do it? The acronym D.R.I.V.E. stands for Dedicated Results Inspire Victorious Efforts.Through our dedicated results we know that we will have a lasting effect on the ways individuals handle certain situations. Also through these efforts we will be able to create unity where we stand up for something bigger than ourselves. The black community kills each other at an alarming rate and instead of coming together as a race, we destroy it simply because we don't know our history and do not understand how powerful we could be be if we were united as one. We as a country need to come together and stand up for what is right. We need to understand that the general message behind the phrase "stand for something, or fall for anything." We need to understand that these problems are within our own race and as a country we need to unify and bring awareness to those issues that do not get publicized.

Over the years it seems as though we have become desensitized to issues within our community. We seem to speak out and protest when the media portrays incidents as being racially motivated; however, where is the participation and the activism who will stand up and speak out for our younger brothers and sisters? Respect yourself, your color, your family, and the future generations. Let's continue the dreams of Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Dr. Jibreel Khazan, Dr. Maya Angelou and many others by unifying and taking control of these issues before it becomes the reason behind our extinction. End Senseless Violence!
Let your voices be heard because to the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. Let's become a collective group willing to Stand Up For Something Beyond Our Personal Wants and Needs! Know more, do more! Don't be silent, stop the violence! Stand for something, so you don't fall for anything!
