Turning the south 2000’ of the runway into a stopway is the only common sense course of action. When the runway is wet or contaminated by snow we usually have to cease operations. Having a stopway available will greatly enhance the usability of the airport and save money in the process.

As a pilot with an airplane based in Driggs, I support this proposal. It enhances safety, reduces cost and inconvenience of closing the airport, and reduces noise. Win, win, win.

It makes much more sense to retain the current asphalt in place rather than removing it, thus providing an additional margin of safety when needed. A stopway for emergency use only is a win, win for all concerned.

30,000 + hour pilot ATP & former KDIJ Airport Board Member. This proposal is the best solution and far better than dirt (mud) or grass. Why remove a superior surface that is in and paid for?

Please keep the south end of the runway intact as opposed to digging up and planting grass. The safety factor and cost savings should be sufficient evidence that this it’s the intelligent choice.

This makes complete sense. Reduces cost, closure time, and INCREASES SAFETY. What more could anyone want. Overruns are very common at airports worldwide and there is no reason not to have one at Driggs.
