I can't even grow a beard but honestly that part of the honor code is kinda pointless.

I completely agree. You know a code is out dated when someone is allowed a mustache but not a well-groomed beard. 100% in favor

I support this wholeheartedly, it's time the BYU honor code changed to reflect the change of times. Beards are no longer associated with hippies and are actually a sign of maturity, not to mention help avoid razor burn or constant shaving.

If I don't have to shave my legs everyday, boys shouldn't have to shave their faces everyday.

I would like the freedom to decide whether or not I shave. My facial hear is not a reflection of my honor.

I have been going to class with a beard all semester and have not once been asked to shave by my professors. It is well kept and looks professional. I would keep it in an interview setting, so why is it "not allowed" at my school.

1. Is there a reason a well-groomed beard should be excluded? 2. A beard can have a positive cosmetic effect, if groomed properly, for people like myself. I have thinning hair and a large nose and prominent ears. A beard helps to soften those features, improves my confidence, and, when cared for, makes me look more professional. 3. I can understand a drawback from removing the beard rule. BYU men *may* appear more sloppy. It is easier to have a no-beard rule than to have a beard-permitted-pending-inspection rule. But a university famous for education and business should be able to overcome that obstacle. I have my own considerations for this. 4. It is a private university and I am free to choose another university that allows beards. I only ask that the rule be reviewed and considered with logic and reason.

It has been shown in modern society time and again, that when used appropriately, men can remain looking well groomed while still having a beard.

I think that neatly trimmed facial hair looks good. I wish the policy would change for BYU and Church employees. My husband works for the church up in salt lake and can't have a nicely trimmed beard. I think the rule is outdated and should be overturned.

It's a silly rule. If the honor code office is worried about unkempt looking students make that the rule, not a sweeping ban on facial hair.

Outdated. A well groomed beard looks plenty professional.

Down with BYU beard tyranny

I'm a BYU-I student and this should be just as applicable up here as it is in Provo.
